Resveratol articles can be found everywhere. Is Resveratrol the miracle compound that is going to revolutionized; resveratrol pills for anti- aging, weight loss, heart disease, cure cancer, and even more medical claims?
The studies are showing great promise, as each one builds an impressive list of incredible health benefits that resveratrol is offering up. However, long term human studies will of course have to continue to merit the longevity claim, but it has shown to work in mice.

Resveratrol risks – should some people avoid it?
by alfitness
For many years now the substance known as resveratrol has been on the market but more importantly it has been on the radar of the medical and scientific communities. The reason for this comes down to the properties that the substance contains, such as antioxidants. It is properties such as this that has prompted many studies to take place that have demonstrated how resveratrol is great for heart health and the control of tumors as well as weight loss and the slowing of the aging process; it is a substance that sounds too good to be true but as with any product you need to make sure you do the correct research into it, especially if you have underlying medical conditions.
Like all products designed to aid us in certain aspects of our health there will always be underlying side effects that could affect us. So what are these side effects? Well studies have concluded that some people who have been taking resveratrol end up suffering diarrhea, abnormal blood tests, headaches and anxiety. Most of these effects are common with a range of medications so shouldn’t be worried over too much. If however you are worried there is something you can do to reduce the risks. An example of this is you should start on a moderate dose, generally between 20 and 50mg and then increase the dose gradually but you should always stay below 500mg, while also taking into account your body size and current health status.
Another side effect of resveratrol however is thinning of the blood, which is why if you are on blood thinning medication you should avoid taking resveratrol. You should generally avoid it unless recommended by your doctor otherwise you could find yourself suffering some unpleasant and threatening side effects. Generally you should consult you doctor anyway before starting a course of anything, especially if you are suffering a certain condition. So who else should be avoiding resveratrol unless otherwise advised by their doctor?
It is important to understand that this product has mild estrogenic activity that has not yet been evaluated in humans. So what does this mean? It essentially means that women with estrogen problems, such as estrogen sensitive conditions, including some cancers stay away from the product as it could aggravate their condition, thus making it worse. On the same note it is also not recommended that women who are pregnant or nursing a new born take the product. This is because it has the possibility of causing birth and grow defects.
Children are another example of who should avoid the product. To many people this may seem obvious but there is a great misconception surrounding it, which leaves a lot of people under the impression that it can be nothing but good due to its health benefits. However the health benefits are aimed at adults; they are aimed at preventing damage that is caused by the aging process and lifestyle, two things that children have no worry about. They are still young and their cells are still improving; giving them this substance could have anti-growth side effects.
Resveratrol is considered to be excellent at what it does; in fact some people would go as far as to call it a medical breakthrough. Just make sure that before you purchase it that you consult your doctor to avoid suffering any side effects.
