Is Resveratol The Magic Pill For Diabetes?
Diabetics Do Have You Heard About
Resveratro Pills?
If you wondering if resveratrol pills call really deliver the goods for diabetics when it comes to all the media hype, then you may find this article very interesting.
The numbers produced by the American Diabetes Association stated that there are over 20 million adults and children in the US who suffer from diabetes. The numbers represent over 7% of the population, but there many more people that are not diagnosed, or are pre-diabetic. The obesity rate and a sedentary life style of people are only creating larger and larger groups of men, women and children that are being diagnosed as diabetic. The health care costs to maintain, and prevent further complications in these individuals is astronomical. It is estimated that one out of every ten dollars is spent on a diabetic patient, so finding effective treatments for diabetics has many researchers and scientists clamoring for a cure.
Studies Done On Resveratrol
In 2008 researchers at the Peninsula Medical School in the South West of England found that resveratrol, the compound naturally found in grape skin, red wine, pine nuts, chocolate, peanuts, cranberries, blueberries, and few other natural food sources can protect against the cellular damage to blood vessels caused by high production of glucose in diabetes. It is thought that when a diabetics person has elevated levels of glucose or high blood sugar that is circulating in their body it can causes damage to mitochondria. The mitochondria are these very tiny power plants within cells responsible for producing cell energy. Imagine that they are the little batteries that make cells work, and when they are damaged they leak out electrons or little amounts of toxic material that becomes damaging free radicals. These free radicals can cause many complications; kidney disease, heart disease and retinopathy, circulatory problems, and more.
Another study done in china using mice showed that Insulin which is a hormone that controls blood sugar. In the research trail scientists documented that resveratrol spurs a gene called SIRT1 to become more active, boosting insulin sensitivity, and by spurring the gene it curbed insulin resistance in mice; insulin resistance is a condition that occurs when the body becomes less sensitive to insulin. When this occurs it can lead to type 2 diabetes. However, to reach the same levels of resveratrol, it would require a significant consumption of red wine. It is noted in the study that a person would have to drink 3 liters of wine a day to even come close, and it is not recommended for diabetics, or anyone else for that matter to rely on red wine for their health.
The studies give new hope to new cures perhaps using resveratrol, but researchers were quick to point out that you cannot eat or consume enough wine to reach the levels needed for this to be possible. Resveratrol pills, supplements, and new formulations of resveratrol need to be used to be of any benefit.
Conclusion
Resveratrol pills in studies have prevented the damage to the cells, by assisting the cells to produce natural enzymes that seal, and prevent the leakage of electrons from cells. The importance of this function is that there are no toxic free radicals trying to damage other cells, when the supplement is taken. Resveratrol basically become the guardian of cells giving them protection, and mending them as well. This study and many more like it are proving that Resveratrol could possible offer even more medical cures and treatments to stop complications associated with diabetes such as; Heart Disease, Retinopathy Nephropathy, and Controlling Insulin Levels in type 2 diabetes.
